Animated Timeline Map of the Irish Railway Network.

This interactive Animated Timeline Map of the Irish Railway network  allows users to interact with the animated chronology of the opening and closing of lines subsumed into the Great Southern Railway, and CIE Company in Google Earth.

The Animated Timeline Map of Irish Railways represents an innovative way of presenting the chronological history of the railway network in a Google Earth. The dynamic map is designed (1) as a public interest resource, and (2) as an education resource for schools (ICT, history, geography). The KML map code may be modified and applied to other animated chronological maps and heritage projects (e.g. archaeology; industrial heritage; landuse change).
